Logan Paul is critical of the YouTube Rewind for omitting major events in YouTube history and for failing to feature prominent creators like himself, David Dobrik, and PewDiePie.

Josh Peck believes the YouTube Rewind was poorly received because it became overly political and failed to focus on the platform's actual content or its biggest events.

“they i think they just got a little uh political with it and made it less about youtube as like the platform um for example like some of the biggest events in youtube weren't even in the video”
