The Battle of Eastern Solomons does not capture the imagination like other carrier battles and is therefore largely forgotten.

“I hate to say it, but this is just not a battle that captures the imagination. Like I you know, I know Midway like the back of my hand, obviously. I could talk about that all day. But if somebody sat me on a bar stool and said, "Here's Here's your quarter. Talk about Eastern Solomons."”

The battle was a significant event that is often overlooked in historical discussions of the Pacific war.

“And in so far as Eastern Solomons is concerned I think it's probably the forgotten carrier battle of the war. Yes. I hate to use that term forgotten cuz you know, it's >> Yeah. It's still overused.”
