Victims of abuse should prioritize their own safety and sanity over preserving the feelings or reputations of their abusers.

“don't put somebody else before you don't put your abuser before you cuz that's something I did your abuser no matter how special you feel is not worth your sanity”

Kegan Gill believes that psychedelic assisted therapy provided the healing necessary for his recovery when conventional medical treatments failed.

“And I was very fortunate to come across a book called How to Change Your Mind by Michael Poland. And at that point, I barely had the ability to read a paragraph without forgetting it. But I stumbled through that book and I found that there may be a solution.”

He believes that achieving stability through the correct medication was essential to his ability to stop using substances and gain the clarity needed to rebuild his life.

“I was finally able to get stabilized on the right meds. And after about a month on the meds, I felt like a totally different person.”

Engaging in productive, positive life accomplishments helps victims overcome feelings of worthlessness and trauma.

“If you feel less than, well, go and accomplish something. Go and do something productive and then you will feel better like that. I mean, at least that's what worked for me.”

The current system for investigating and reporting crimes involving minors is deeply flawed and often fails to provide justice.

“I think like the system with like reporting and like what you need in order to get justice is absolute [ __ ] but I'm so happy I did it because I was able to like it was horrible, but I processed everything that happened through it.”
