Logan believes that possessing the skill to catch fish provides a reliable way to ensure one never goes hungry.

“If a man can catch you a fish and then you eat that fish. Yeah. You'll never go hungry. Think about it.”

Ethan claims that catching fish at sea requires a level of composure that his teammate JJ lacks.

“My concern is that when you get a bite, I don't know anything about fishing, but I feel like you have to be somewhat composed. JJ is not going to be composed.”

JJ maintains that catching a large fish would be a significant achievement to display on his social media profile.

“I'm about to catch a fish this big and make it my profile picture. Look at this on Facebook. Go from the Mayweather picture to the fucking fish.”

He believes the most effective way to succeed in professional fishing is to focus on outperforming the environment rather than competing directly against other anglers.

“I never beat Roland Martin. I never beat Bill Dance. I never beat anyone. I just caught the most fish. So, I won the tournament. But it was uh it and that was my mindset from the beginning. I never worried about this guy or that guy cuz it didn't matter.”
