He feels that performing shows too often is detrimental.

“Too often is the answer. Yeah. What's the matter?”

Mo Gilligan believes that individuals on their first tour should avoid over-extending themselves by going out every night to prevent burnout.

“do the show then afterwards we would go out yeah but burnout happens quickly it's where your body says bro I can't do this no more and you're like no we're doing it again and again”

He claims that touring induced a state of chronic fight or flight in him for 25 years.

“I have a severe um I have severe anxiety issue and the fight orflight thing is I've been in fight or flight for in varying degrees for 25 years”

He believes that the industry environment on tour encourages arrested development and requires a conscious decision to grow up.

“I think there's an arrested development that happens in touring where it you have to make a conscious decision to grow up because it's very feasible and almost encouraged to not.”

Touring is a stressful activity that often leaves the comedian feeling depressed afterward.

“you do something big and then you're kind of depressed cuz you're like oh I'm still a piece of [ __ ] yeah and you're like oh it'll never happen ever again”

Jelly Roll advocates for artists to prioritize performing at reputable, hard-ticket venues rather than relying on chaotic, unprofessional bar circuits.

“I tell artist do not fall for the bar trick you know what I'm saying do not just wait it out you know what I'm saying wait it out find get be one of four on a 300 person proper venue tour than go out and play a 500 person bar”

Steve-O suggests that touring performers should aim to eventually transition from playing bar venues to established comedy clubs to maintain professional growth.

“I think that the the comedy comparison there is hey you want to get into comedy get to an open mic you know the bar is the open mic but once you're actually doing business then don't do the don't do the comedy in the bar do the comedy at a comedy club where it's meant to be happening”

A comedian should focus on honing their skills and getting really good rather than rushing to release a special.

“I'll tell you what, keep doing standup and get really good and then and then shoot a special when you're really good.”

He aims to expand his stand-up career globally to perform in as many different countries as possible.

“I'm just trying to like set myself up to do stand-up uh in as many places globally because i've done every state besides delaware”

Artists should focus on building their brand and fanbase domestically in the United States before seeking opportunities overseas.

“Don't keep letting people or don't let people tell you all the money is overseas when we have all of these. We have the whole United States right here.”
