Middle powers are strengthening their own security by forging direct military and nuclear alliances with one another, bypassing the United States.

“These They call themselves mid powers, if you will, joining together and forming a superpower out of mid powers and projecting nuclear strength.”

The speaker believes that defensive pacts pose a risk of escalation similar to the events that triggered World War I.

“So the thing about defensive packs, World War I got started because of a series of defensive packs that triggered. So like Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are in a defensive pack now. America's in a defensive pack with Turkey, NATO. So if if Pakistan gets attacked by random country and then Turkey”

The speaker believes that mutual defense pacts like NATO are problematic because they can inadvertently drag member nations into regional conflicts.

“So having a mutual defense pact like that can be devastating. So people see this like it's the Middle East, who cares? It has a direct impact on us because if India attacks Turkey for being allied with Pakistan, we get pulled into that and so does like most of Europe at that point”
