The current international order is dysfunctional and hypocritical, as it preserves the power of relic nations like the UK and France while ignoring the legitimate grievances of the Global South.

“These bilateral relationships restructuring a global world order, right? You have the United States, America first has meant America alone, the mid powers doing bilateral deals, and also doing broader deals with each other.”

Autocrats are currently more united in their support for one another than democratic nations are.

“One, the autocrats are united. They're helping each other. Iranians are sending drones to the Russians. North Korea is sending soldiers to the Russians to fight their war against democratic Ukraine. China buys their oil and gas and sends them technological components. They're all helping each other”

The international order is facing significant instability due to the withdrawal of the United States as a global anchor and the rise of autocracy.

“What comes to my mind is that the US was the anchor of the global system. Didn't mean that it played a role in every part of it, didn't mean that it got everything right, but it was the anchor and the anchor's being pulled up avowedly.”

Political change in Iran should be driven by an internal, organized, and indigenous resistance movement rather than foreign military intervention.

“But that said, we as the resistance movement that has been fighting this regime for 47 years and the previous regime, the Shaw's regime since 1965 do not believe that change will come from the air. Change will not come through foreign intervention. change must come from within Iran”

Globalization is in decline and the global economy is increasingly fragmenting into spheres of influence dominated by the US and China.

“And although there will be trade between those spheres, you know, the tendency is is to see those relationships attenuate and and a deeper relationship within the spheres of influence.”
