Women achieve true success by embracing their natural femininity rather than competing with men in masculine terms.

“If you find any woman that makes it and she's successful, what is she doing? She's tapping into her femininity.”

Sheryl argues that within a relationship, a man should act as the head of the household regardless of who earns more money.

“I'm not the bread winner. The man is the bread winner. And we live off of what you do. My money is in addition to, hey, you want to be a cowboy? I'm going to send you to Montana to learn how to be a cowboy for your birthday. Right? That's what [laughter] that's what my money is for. Right?”

The concept of men leading and women following in relationships is valid and necessary.

“A lot of women say that they want a man to lead and Joe is saying yo how do you really know you want that man to lead if you never seen a leader before”

A more conservative political order would base itself on the family unit rather than on the individual.

“I don't think we're going to repeal the 19th Amendment anytime soon, but but is it uh would it not be more conservative if the if the political order was based on the family rather than the individual?”

Traditional gender roles and familial structures are important for a stable society.

“I think we can all agree that uh children need to be protected and open sexuality even if it's heterosexual is problematic.”

She argues that the dissatisfaction reported by women is due to the dual pressure of professional expectations and domestic labor, rather than the acquisition of rights.

“I think that women report more stress and dissatisfaction today because uh not because they have more rights or because of feminism, but because they're under dual pressure to both excel professionally and also because of the domestic labor in homes that is structured around outdated expectations.”

Mormonism inherently devalues women and places them in a subservient role to men.

“I felt like growing up it was really clear to me that girls were not as good as boys but that that's what God wanted”

She believes that the strict and oppressive gender roles she experienced were harmful and restrictive to women.

“Women were expected in my community to do fortuneelling. We were also expected to kind of cook, clean, wake up early and take care of the kids and kind of do everything. All the pressure was under us all the time.”

Christianity's future depends on its ability to move away from male-dominated authority and form men who treat women with equality.

“If Christianity forms men who need authority over women in order to feel masculine, then it will keep losing women. If it forms men who hear equality as rebellion and feminism as corruption and female autonomy as a threat to God's order, it will keep losing women.”

Women should be ordained to the priesthood and receive equal status to men within the church.

“I put a profile up on the site just with my picture saying and it was one of the strongest spiritual promptings I'd ever had in my life like it was all I could think about for weeks on in like you should put up a profile you should put up a profile this is what you could write in your profile”

Financial responsibility and the role of the provider should be a reciprocal, team-based arrangement rather than tied to rigid gender roles.

“I think it's that I think being with somebody who shows you that they they want to make something of themselves. They want they want to make sure that they're there for you in the same way that you're there for them.”

Men and women should have equal autonomy, and men should not assume control over women.

“I'm not going to submit to some dude just because he has a penis. I'm smarter than him.”

Ramit suggests that couples should challenge traditional gender roles regarding who earns more or who manages finances.

“We have gender roles. They are real, but we should still be questioning them.”

The modern concept of a one-provider, one-parent family is a historical fad rather than a traditional human standard.

“this very skewed one parent one provider lifestyle is only Trad if you have a very narrow view of what Trad means for about 95% of our species history we've lived as hunter gatherers and if you look at modern hunter gatherers men and women are both generally economically productive and parentall”

She believes that moving away from rigid gender-identified roles toward a team-based approach has significantly improved their marriage.

“just taking that pressure off of Ben and looking it more as like us being a team and working together and being companions and getting rid of those gender identified roles has changed our marriage and changed our lives.”
