The union leaders of the longshoremen are corrupt and their strike demands are unsustainable and harmful to the American economy.

“These people there was relevant time for unions, you know, if like with like women being chained to a loom for like 12 hours. But, these days they are they are living off of in most cases your taxpayer dime, too, when you look at public sector unions.”

While today's actions are not a full general strike, they represent a necessary step toward building the collective power required for one.

“I don't think any of us expected today to be an actual general strike, but it's a step toward a general strike.”

The historical labor movement in America, through strikes and protests, has successfully challenged hierarchical societal structures and advocated for equality and fair treatment.

“Does a protest work? Absolutely. But, how does it work is the question that I think is underlying what all of you are saying. Voting for sure, but you know what? You know, voting's a long way out right now.”

Alastair Campbell argues that the government's claim that its strike legislation aligns with European standards is incorrect because the UK already has stricter strike laws.

“my point is no they're not because we already have amongst the most Draconian restrictions on the right to strike and they have been very vague about how high these minimum service levels are going to be set”

Rory Stewart believes that the government's anti-strike legislation is a distraction that does not aid in addressing recruitment and retention issues.

“I think the government is creating a distraction here that it doesn't need to do it certainly doesn't help them in relation to Recruitment and Retention and I think the whole messaging is basically trying to make an enemy of people who are working in the Public Services it's a mistake”
