She maintains that the current administration is deliberately undermining free and fair elections by spreading baseless claims of illegitimacy to justify restricted voting measures.

“What Trump is doing is setting up the idea that when voters turn out to vote for Democrats in 2026 and or 2028 that they cheated. He is he is already seeding the ground again to say that if Democrats win it is illegitimate which is exactly what he did in 2021.”

The federal government lacks any constitutional authority to administer elections as that power rests solely with the states.

“Declaring a national emergency would not unlock extraordinary presidential power over voting. There is no presidential power over voting. The states control elections, not the federal government. Period.”

“I'm concerned as the day began with the president saying that Detroit is a third world city and that the county surrounding Detroit, Wayne County, population hub of Michigan, can't be trusted to run an election. And that's necessarily destructive. And it's necessarily subversive of the elections.”
