Vintage Pokemon cards are a safer long-term investment than modern sets because modern cards are overprinted in much higher quantities.

“Long term I think vintage is going to outperform modern. uh even though a lot of the modern sets even though I'm not personally you know really up on them but is there like 10,000 Pokémon now or something? I just simply don't have the time to you know to keep up plus they're doing four five sets a y”

Gengar cards have become highly popular and successful in the market despite not being an initially prominent character.

“Character-wise, Gengar, Gengar was never that big of a deal. You know, he was always kind of cool, you know, but he was never ever anybody's favorite. Now, half the hobby, he's their favorite. And so, everything with Gengar on it is uh has done incredibly well.”
