Mark Normand believes that comedians have a professional responsibility to navigate tragic events by finding the humor in them, even when it is difficult.

“You shouldn't die because of what you say. We say whatever the [ __ ] we want to say, but how we our job is also to make it funny.”

AlexxMedia maintains that comedians should be permitted to make mistakes and say things that might be considered stupid or controversial without being permanently cancelled.

“Every one of us has said a thing that's stupid or whatever that is part of doing this thing. Jimmy Kimmel's been on air for decades. Of course, he said multiple stupid things. I've said multiple stupid things in eight years of doing a podcast. You should be allowed to say stupid things.”
