Daniel Davis Deep Dive Merch: Etsy store https://www.etsy.com/shop/DanielDavisDeepDive?ref=seller-platform-mcnav Nima describes a belief that Donald Trump expected a quick victory if the U.S. attacked Iran—including assassinating leadership and triggering regime change—but argues that this assumption was unrealistic. Instead of collapse, they claim Iranians have become more unified and resistant to outside influence, viewing the conflict as a broader struggle against the West, not just internal politics. They contrast U.S. and Israeli goals, suggesting the U.S. sought regime change while Israel aimed for widespread destruction. The speaker emphasizes that many Iranians oppose both agendas and are prepared to defend their country. The interview also highlights differing narratives: Iranian officials frame the war as defensive, accusing the U.S. and Israel of initiating attacks, while Western media is criticized for portraying Iran as the aggressor. The speaker argues Iran’s strategy is retaliatory rather than escalatory, claiming it avoids civilian targets and focuses on infrastructure tied to adversaries. There is also concern about potential escalation, including nuclear conflict. While Iran is described as reluctant to pursue nuclear weapons, the discussion suggests that increasing pressure or existential threats could push it in that direction. Finally, the speaker outlines Iran’s broader goal: reshaping regional security in the Persian Gulf without U.S. or Israeli involvement, aiming for a more independent and cooperative regional order.
