Every time Mica Miller called police for help, John-Paul Miller already had an explanation ready. Federal prosecutors allege he placed tracking devices on her car, contacted her more than fifty times in a single day, and posted an intimate image of her online without her consent. Mica made at least seven police calls reporting harassment, tire slashing, and surveillance, telling officers she feared for her life. Each time, JP allegedly told police she was bipolar, schizophrenic, having an episode — he even filed a mental health pick-up order and confiscated her phone, laptop, purse, and car, claiming he was stopping her from overspending. Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott calls this pathologizing the victim: terrorize a woman privately, then use her own trauma response to make her look unstable to the people she's begging for help. It gets worse across generations. FITSNews published two of Mica's February 2024 911 calls — one reporting that JP's adult son from a previous marriage made an unwanted advance toward her in her own kitchen, another reporting that same son following her around town, armed, and living in the house she'd fled. That son, Logan Ryan Hardee, was already facing a felony domestic violence charge after a different woman was hospitalized with a head injury. Separately, two 2025 civil lawsuits allege JP and his 77-year-old father used their churches and a school to gain access to underage girls for two decades. JP denies it and countersued. His father never answered and lost by default.
