It was the day before Tara's 24th birthday. Investigators say they quickly learned that Baker had been killed and the fire was intentionally set. The only thing taken from Baker's home was her laptop computer. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Baker was last seen by a friend outside the library at around 7:30 p.m. on January 18, 2001. That same friend received a call from Baker, who said she was planning to leave the library at 10 p.m. This phone call was the last time anyone heard her voice. Athens Police determined that the fire was set on purpose and ruled her death a homicide, but a suspect was never arrested until 2024, when police took Edrick Faust into custody. After a 2023 law established a GBI cold case unit specializing in DNA technology, investigators reexamined evidence gathered at the scene. Officials say this led them to Faust, who officials said had been arrested and incarcerated multiple times in the years around Baker's murder. Faust has remained in custody in the Athens-Clarke County Jail since his arrest. The law was named the Coleman-Baker Act, which encourages law enforcement agencies to reexamine cold cases and is named in part for Tara Baker. Edrick Faust, 48 is facing malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, aggravated sodomy, tampering with evidence, and arson charges. 🔥 Merch: https://attorneymelanielittle.myspreadshop.com/ 👗Nuuly Clothing Rental Discount Code: https://share.nuuly.com/melanie555 🧁 Join this channel to get access to perks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFSlI8Y3Zdoq5buNW_40AAA/join Intro song written & produced by Melisa aka Turd Ferguson ❤️ WAYS TO SUPPORT: VENMO: https://www.venmo.com/u/Melanie-Little-12 BUY ME A MATCHA: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/mlittlen CASH APP : https://cash.app/$AttyMelanieLittle EMAIL: Fanbase@MLittleLaw.com #lawyerreacts #lawyer #legalanalysis #truecrime #law #lawtube #crime #criminallaw I have been receiving so many inquiries regarding my on-camera makeup, skincare and haircare that I have listed them all in my AMAZON STOREFRONT: https://www.amazon.com/shop/the.melanie.little WARNING: Some of these products may be life-changing.
