He is best known for his defence of antinatalism, the view that it is immoral to have children (though more specifically, to bring new sentient beings into existence). Professor Benatar speaks to Alex about the asymmetry of pleasure and pain, and the two debate whether being anti-birth commits one to being pro-death. --------------------------------LINKS--------------------------------- Followup conversation: https://youtu.be/YGL2r8PNb8c David Benatar's book, Better Never To Have Been (affiliate link): https://amzn.to/3asBUX3 Benatar's article responding to critics: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10892-012-9133-7 Benatar's other works: http://www.philosophy.uct.ac.za/philosophy/staff/benatar ----------------------SPECIAL THANKS------------------------ As always, I would like to direct extra gratitude to my top-tier patrons: Itamar Lev Evan Allen Faraz Harsini James O'Neill John Early Austin Chiappetta Sveline -----------------------------CONNECT------------------------------ My Website/Blog: http://www.cosmicskeptic.com SOCIAL LINKS: Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/cosmicskeptic Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/cosmicskeptic Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/cosmicskeptic Snapchat: cosmicskeptic The Cosmic Skeptic Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-cosmic-skeptic-podcast/id1458675168 ----------------------------CONTACT------------------------------- Business email: cosmicskeptic@gmail.com Or send me something: Alex O'Connor Po Box 1610 OXFORD OX4 9LL ENGLAND ------------------------------------------------------------------------
