The Lindsay Clancy murder trial is now in the hands of the jury. The defense says a loving mother was overtaken by postpartum psychosis after months of deteriorating mental health and fragmented treatment. The Commonwealth agrees that Lindsay was struggling, but argues that her actions on January 24, 2023—sending Patrick away, checking the travel time, adding another errand, speaking calmly during his phone call and acting as soon as he left—show that she understood what she was doing and knew it was wrong. In this episode, I look at what each side asked the jury to believe, why mental-health treatment nearly overtook the deaths of Cora, Dawson and Callan as the public focus, and why there are no real winners regardless of the verdict.
