Kevin Reddington says prosecutors never offered Lindsay Clancy a plea deal before trial. A first-degree murder conviction would carry mandatory life without parole, while separate civil suits allege failures by overlapping medical providers involved in her care. Where should accountability land when the criminal case and the medical-care claims are both still unresolved? Kevin Reddington says Lindsay Clancy entered her first-degree murder trial without prosecutors ever offering her a plea deal. On those charges, Clancy could not waive a jury trial, and a first-degree murder conviction would carry mandatory life without parole. The defense argued postpartum psychosis left Clancy without criminal responsibility. Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial on September 4, 2026, after seven days of deliberations. The charges remain pending, and Reddington has since said he hopes Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz will revisit the case and consider a resolution acceptable to both sides. Prosecutors have not announced whether they will retry the same charges, reduce them, negotiate a plea, or dismiss the case. A status hearing is set for September 29. Civil litigation opens a second track. Patrick Clancy and Lindsay Clancy filed separate civil suits in January 2026 over the psychiatric care Lindsay received before the deaths of Cora, Dawson, and Callan. Patrick’s wrongful-death complaint names psychiatrist Jennifer Tufts, nurse practitioner Rebecca Jollotta, Aster Mental Health, and South Shore Health System. Lindsay’s malpractice suit includes those same defendants plus additional providers and hospitals. The suits allege failures to coordinate care, diagnose her condition, and respond to worsening symptoms. Patrick’s complaint says Lindsay was prescribed eight different medications during a three-week stretch. Tony Brueski brings Bob Motta of Defense Diaries and Robin Dreeke into one conversation about what accountability is supposed to accomplish when the criminal case focuses on punishment and criminal responsibility while the civil cases focus on medical care. If secure psychiatric treatment can address public safety when legally justified, what additional result should the justice system be seeking?
