Anna Kepner was eighteen years old, a senior with plans to join the Navy, on a family cruise aboard the Carnival Horizon when she was allegedly killed inside her own cabin by her sixteen-year-old stepbrother. Her body was found concealed under a bed, wrapped in a blanket, covered with life jackets. The medical examiner ruled it homicide by mechanical asphyxiation. Bruising on her neck was consistent with an arm held across it. Ship surveillance reportedly shows one person entering and exiting that stateroom. Nobody else went in. Nobody else came out. Timothy Hudson now faces first-degree murder and aggravated sexual abuse charges in federal court. He has pled not guilty. And right now, he is not sitting in a cell. He is living with a relative, wearing a GPS ankle monitor, and recently cleared to work at his biological father's landscaping business. His attorneys entered the plea without him in the courtroom.
