Before there was a Tesla, a Hollywood Hills garage, or a body, there was a music video. d4vd filmed himself dragging a body and loading it into a car, and prosecutors now allege he did the exact thing his character did. That's the piece of this case Tony and Robin sit with the longest. David Burke was a homeschooled kid who recorded songs on an iPhone in his sister's closet and built an audience in Fortnite lobbies before he ever had a label. Prosecutors say he met Celeste Rivas Hernandez online through gaming, years before either of them were adults, and that connection never got interrupted by anyone who should have noticed it. Around the time he signed with Darkroom and Interscope at seventeen, Burke built an alter ego named Itami, the Japanese word for pain, describing him as an agent of chaos wearing a blindfold. He put the character in music videos holding a bloody knife, taking a woman's arm. Millions of artists make violent work and never hurt anyone. That's the honest counterargument. Then came the forensic record. LAPD trace analyst Lisa LaHendro testified that a kiddie pool in Burke's garage had cuts matching fragments recovered on Celeste's leggings. DNA from the Tesla and the home matched her. A criminalist found evidence of real blood scrubbed from surfaces feet from jugs of fake blood. Cell tower data placed Burke's Tesla in Santa Barbara County three times in the weeks after Celeste allegedly died. Celeste was fourteen. She went to Burke's home on April 23, 2025, and was never heard from again. Her remains turned up in his Tesla months later. Burke has pleaded not guilty.
