Kouri Richins promised her sons she'd fight her conviction "no matter how long it takes." Her defense asked the judge for extra time to file a motion for a new trial and said they need to retain an expert. But when you look at the actual legal landscape — a jury that deliberated less than three hours, a defense that called zero witnesses, and a circumstantial case the jury still found overwhelming — is there anything real behind the defiance? Before she was even sentenced, Kouri wrote a message that ended up in the prosecution's filing. She said she would "expose this county, the prosecution, the judge, the Richins, the investigation." She wrote, "They picked the wrong one." She wrote, "They haven't seen anything yet." Then she stood up in court and told her sons "we're going to make this right" and "don't give up on me." This is a woman serving life without parole who allegedly wrote a letter from jail instructing her brother to testify falsely. A woman accused of witness intimidation. A woman whose own thirteen-year-old told the court he's afraid she'll come for him if she ever gets out. Defense attorney and former felony prosecutor Eric Faddis walks through every appellate lane available — the alleged prosecutorial listening of attorney-client jail calls, the Crozier recantation, the venue fight, the sufficiency of the evidence — and identifies which ones have teeth and which are noise. He also explains what a convicted murderer can actually do from behind bars — the mail, the phone calls, the proxies, the people who believe she's innocent and will act on her behalf — and the legal tools that exist to wall her off from the family she's already reportedly targeted from inside. The judge said she's "simply too dangerous to ever be free." Her children begged the court to keep her locked away. When Kouri tells her boys "we're going to make this right," is that a legal strategy or the last performance of a woman who never stops working an audience?
