The Supreme Court should be expanded from nine to thirteen justices to prevent a conservative majority from blocking progressive legislation.

“And the only way to do that, knowing that we're not going to leave in place voluntarily uh a veto on anything that happens in the federal government is to expand the Supreme Court from 9 to 13 justices.”

Expanding the Supreme Court is a moral and historical imperative to ensure that progressive legislation is not blocked by a conservative majority.

“I think that if you want meaningful, durable, lasting change that there is a moral imperative then to expand the Supreme Court.”

The Roberts Court has created the conditions and public momentum necessary for significant Supreme Court reform, including binding ethics rules, term limits, and potential expansion.

“I think this court has uh uh the Roberts court has created the ingredients for its reform, for the conclusion of this period with a court that's so out of control. We've never seen more members of Congress embracing reforms.”

Ro Khanna argues for progressive judicial reform to address the ideological direction of the current Supreme Court.

“What we need is people who have solutions, bold solutions and then are willing to fight for them.”

Mellissa Murray argues that the Supreme Court's current state is an existential threat to democratic institutions and requires serious reform.

“we actually really also need to start talking about court reform in a serious way because no matter what we do with regard to legislation, with regard to electing better members of Congress, everything goes back to this court. And it is this court that is an existential threat to democratic institut”

The legal community should focus on an ecosystem of pro-democracy media to inform the public and counter misinformation about voting rights and judicial actions.

“And so what we need to do is we need to have a vibrant pro-democracy independent media ecosystem.”
