Living in a van is a preferable alternative to paying rent for a house or apartment because it offers freedom and the ability to travel.

“I was paying an absurd amount of rent for someone who just moved out with like no money and living in a van just seemed like a cool option and living in California there's so many places to travel so just kind of like checked all the boxes”

He believes the recent popularity of van life content stems from young people rejecting traditional living paths and expensive housing.

“I think more people are not wanting to buy a house and pay mortgage and yeah I think a lot of young people want to explore alternative living and not go to school and just kind of figure everything out and take a different path”

Abby believes van life is a fascinating and unique way to live.

“I just think it's so fascinating that you guys did that like van life you actually did it m how long did you guys live in a van for”

Matt suggests that people should try renting a van before committing to building or buying one.

“I would actually recommend like renting it maybe for like a weekend you know get a little taste you only have one life right so you got you got to take advantage of the life you have”

Kyle Kinane owns a van that he uses for travel and occasional stays, though he maintains a permanent residence.

“I got a PO Box I'm doing better than that access to indoor plumbing okay okay no I hit well because I bought at the beginning of pandemic because like I didn't know like you know everybody like what's gonna happen remember that those feet like we might have wonky time there might not be airplanes”

Living in a van or truck is a fun, temporary life experience for young people that is difficult to sustain indefinitely.

“it's it's definitely a fun life experience. But, this isn't something that you just decided you woke up one morning and you're like, I'm going to do this. How long was the planning process?”

He prefers living in his car because it provides him with a sense of freedom and lack of confinement.

“i can go whenever i don't have to stay in one place i can go go wherever i can pretty much do do whatever you know i i don't feel trapped you know or enclosed somewhere”
