Ramit claims that many people create arbitrary standards for their financial success and then feel bad about themselves when they fail to meet those standards.

“Nobody expects you to speak that language. You created that standard in your head and now you feel bad because you're not living up to a standard that you yourself made up. We do the same thing with money.”

He believes he does not deserve the reward of a relaxing trip because he has not yet earned enough money through his own career.

“I don't deserve to go on that trip you know I haven't I haven't earned that trip”

She believes that over-worrying about her finances and potential future losses is preventing her from creating an effective financial plan.

“I think it gives me and I also think it's preventing me putting a financial sort of plan in place because I'm worried about doing the wrong thing and and like losing it that way”
