He asserts that the degree to which an individual trusts their partner is fundamentally a reflection of the individual's own internal state rather than the partner's actions.

“One of the rules that I really truly believe in is that trust, how much you trust somebody else is very little about them and everything about you.”

She admits that her constant checking of her husband's activities is an addiction stemming from her own insecurity.

“I check Jason's emails probably two or three times a day. I will check the phone records online [music] to see who he's called every single day. It feels like an addiction. The more he hides, the more I go snooping until [music] I make myself sick.”

Nicole believes that checking in on her partner's budget is a necessary way to verify he is meeting his commitments.

“I'll check in to see if it's updated. I'll check in to see if he's where he told me he is. You know, if the savings looks like what we've talked about and if uh you know, the the credit cards are paid off.”

Andy argues that Tommy's constant surveillance and suspicion are suffocating their relationship and are not justified by his own behavior.

“I feel like I'm steadily being watched I check everything from his phone bill to his email accounts I forbid him to ever delete anything I am so tired of arguing because of his jealousy”
