Mike Johnson's refusal to bring legislation to the floor that the majority of the House supports has effectively surrendered his authority to discharge petitions.

“That's why I posted on social media that the the current name of the speaker of the house is not Mike Johnson. It is discharge petition. That's the name of the speaker. Discharge is the speaker's first name. Petition is the speaker's last name because that's how things are getting done now.”

The Democratic Party failed to stand up to Trumpism and protect working-class interests as the electorate expected.
