Bobby Lee believes that his past experience with marijuana or harder substances served as a tool to successfully escape mandatory religious participation as a teenager.

“and then I started doing Crystal math and then that kind of what listen if you're a kid and you don't want to do Mormonism or any religion start just doing Christians get your parents out because that just it's a it yeah they start the worry you know I mean it shifts into like oh he's gonna die here”

She claims that she wanted a blue-collar worker for a partner, which she saw as a positive attribute.

“that was a pro I definitely wanted like a blue collar worker”

Difficult experiences and feelings of being an outsider in childhood can serve as a source of power and drive.

“In fact, all my um debits inside me were the greatest power I could have had because it made me angry and all that.”

After moving to America, she felt insecure about her accent and intentionally adopted a valley girl way of speaking to assimilate.

“I then became really really conscious and very insecure because people would always kind of put me in a different box when they heard me speak and I then found the need to like over accentuate my valley girl accents so I started to kind of obsess and acquire this fake accent from television”

H. Foley views his experience working at a supermarket as a defining, formative time in his life.

“I worked at a supermarket for I don't know four years something like that started out as a bagger you talk about it like you were a nom it was a t i mean this was this was this was during the 10 for 10 May May melee things were good things got hecked”

The cultural assumption that Americans do not have an accent is a form of egocentrism.

“and this is where i lose people in america we're so egocentric that we think we believe we don't have accents”

She believes that her traumatic childhood experiences have helped her gain empathy and a better understanding of other people.

“I think the way I grew up and everything that happened in my life taught me a lot and I think can take now I can take more positive things out of it than anything because I have I've had so many experiences in my life and and with that I feel like I can understand other people a lot better”

He admits he was a quiet kid who grew up around local comedians and neighborhood characters in his youth.

“I grew up on the streets so it's like I was always around like local neighborhood comedians and yeah I was always kind of a quiet kid so I was always laughing”
