The current drumbeat for intervention, such as implementing a no-fly zone, is reckless and risks dragging the United States into a dangerous shooting war with Russia.

“So, had we done that, had we given in to the emotional appeals, and I think we all feel the tug on our heartstrings, but had we given in to that, we would be potentially in a shooting war with Russia. And that would be the most serious We're already in, I think, the most serious foreign policy situa”

The Russia-Ukraine conflict will only conclude through a negotiated settlement involving compromise rather than total devastation of either side.

“It only ends with some kind of a compromise or the complete devastation of one of these countries. There really is no in between.”
