Canada should expand its energy infrastructure and resource development to become energy self-sufficient and boost the economy.

To sustain the AI boom, the U.S. must remove bureaucratic permitting barriers and NIMBY-ism to allow for rapid expansion of data centers and power generation, prioritizing natural gas in the near term

“we want to basically get all of these unnecessary regulations, the permitting restrictions, a lot of the NIMBYism out of the way so that um AI companies can build data centers and get power for them.”

Mary Daly believes the remedy for current electricity supply imbalances is to increase capacity rather than reduce demand.

“But the remedy for that isn't to take away demand, it's to increase supply.”

US producers have the capacity to increase oil production to help offset supply disruptions from the Middle East.

“We have limited extra refining capacity in the United States, but we do have more production capacity. It's all about, you know, what we can get going and what, you know, what what American companies can do with, uh, personnel, with people, uh, you know, if there's money and financing available”

The United States power grid is extremely vulnerable to catastrophic failure because it lacks necessary security protections and suffers from systemic neglect.

The U.S. power grid lacks sufficient redundancy, forcing linemen to work on energized, dangerous lines to maintain service.

“well in some places they're they were building the capacity to have this redundancy in the electrical grid but the load grew so much that now they're using that extra capacity as just the primary load base like they're you know they don't have the redundancy which forces us to pretty much work on ev”
