Companies building AI data centers must pay for the associated energy costs themselves rather than subsidizing them through taxpayers.

“None of this subsidizing your costs to the average taxpayer who's not getting anything out of it. So, we have to be absolutely meticulous about who's paying for the cost of the data centers. And it should be the businesses that profit from it.”

Erin Brockovich claims that the development of data centers is an environmental threat that harms water, air, and wildlife, and she advocates for local communities to unite against them.

“I don't think they were expecting that. Maybe in one town, one community, not all towns, not all towns. And you know we are now I believe and you can look this up we've got 14 states now looking at bans moratoriums or pauses.”

The massive electricity demand required to power AI data centers poses a critical threat to the existing, already-antiquated American energy grid.

“Electricity data centers use roughly 450 to 490 TWW globally in 2025. about 5% of all US electricity projected to roughly double by 2030 and potentially reach 12% of US consumption by 2028. I mean the the grid >> we don't have the infrastructure for this. We just don't.”

Data centers cause significant harm to local communities by displacing residents, straining public utilities, and reducing quality of life without providing sufficient public benefits.

“Instead, residents are being told to deal with all the downsides of these data centers without any upside whatsoever. And and as many residents are discovering, the downsides uh are are significant.”

Casey Putsch argues that data centers are harmful to Ohio because they deplete resources, consume electricity at the public's expense, and offer no significant employment or social value.

“Data centers are a leech. We all know this. They're destroying our water. They don't pay taxes. We have to subsidize the cost of them through electricity. They create no meaningful jobs.”

Jensen Huang maintains that the higher cost of a total Nvidia AI factory is justified by its superior performance and ten times the throughput compared to alternative configurations.

“It is very likely that the $50 billion factory, and in fact, I can prove it that the $50 billion factory will generate for you the lowest cost tokens.”

He rejects the characterization of data centers as a scourge and views them as a crucial opportunity for technological advancement that America must pursue to compete with China.

“I'm not going to describe that as a scourge. I'm going to describe that as an incredible new opportunity. And now, you know, my friend, he he organized an incredible symposium in Western Pennsylvania that that AI together and energy. And that's two parts of things Pennsylvania really brings to the t”
