“Why can't you allow them to smoke marijuana? Calm them down. Take the pain away. Because at the end of the day, they're trying they're this is a gladiator sport. This is not a contact sport. This is a collision sport.”

He claims the NFL provides inadequate long-term healthcare benefits for former players who built the league's success.

“the one thing you don't get when you leave pro football is health insurance benefits you get 18 months of cobra and if you don't go into private business or you're not smart enough to connect yourself with a company uh to gainfully become employed you will have the the biggest problem”

He believes the NFL has a responsibility to provide players with all reasonable means to take care of their bodies and minds.

“the league, we go out there and put our bodies and our minds and and our hearts on the line and they should give us all reasonable means to be able to take care of ourselves to be able to do that.”

He claims that players must recognize their own physical limits and know when the journey of playing in the NFL is over.

“you can do all you can to try to protect the guy but at some point in time he got to protect himself. He has to know when the journey is over.”
