The primary goal of the populist movement should be to enact policies that directly benefit average citizens rather than serving the donor class.

He claims that populism, polarization, and post-truth are the mechanisms used by the far right to exploit the migrant crisis for their own political gain.

“Like this dance from brain rot position to brain rot position and people like this is all just different forms of populism where you just like identify some [ __ ] enemy that's destroying everything in your life and the simple answer is to get rid of all the enemies.”

Right-wing populism is a pervasive issue across the West that persists regardless of a country's economic safety nets or manufacturing strength.

“Sweden has very little income inequality right this is one of the countries that has the most advanced social safety nets in the world. They have a huge right-wing populism problem.”

Autocratic populist movements are anti-democratic in nature, seeking to dismantle political systems and eliminate legitimate competition once they gain power.

“they can be so-called far right or they can be so-called far left so you had an autocratic populist movement in Venezuela led by Hugo Chavez and that also the purpose of that movement was eventually to dismantle the state so these are political movements that are in they are part of the democratic s”

The populist project currently forming around Trump is dangerous because it empowers billionaires with conflicts of interest to control the government.

“I think this level of Engagement gives this project of total billionaire control over the federal government a sense of bipartisan legitimacy and creates the appearance that genuinely beneficial things are going to come out of it when I do not think that genuinely beneficial things are going to come”
