She claims that she was subjected to physical and emotional abuse by her stepfather, which included being forced to eat and being exposed to his violent, sadistic behavior toward her mother.

“he had a paddle with my a wooden um 2x4 or like a board he' made like in daed to confused you know had my name on it and he drilled holes in it for you know aerodynamics and more pain”

She believes it is important not to harbor guilt for someone else's abusive actions and that one should not feel obligated to remain in an abusive situation just because the perpetrator is a parent.

“I think it's really helpful to know that you shouldn't ever harbor the guilt of someone else's actions and at the end of the day, even though you standing up for your mom, you know, didn't have the result that you expected, that like I said, I can't stress enough, that takes a really strong person”
