Lindsay Clancy has admitted she killed her three children. That's not in dispute. What's still undecided is everything else — whether postpartum psychosis erases her criminal responsibility, and whether the online mob convinced her ex-husband Patrick did it instead is remotely connected to reality. Criminal defense attorney Bob Motta sat inside the courtroom and watched Patrick testify. He walks through whether surveillance footage placing Patrick outside the home actually supports what conspiracy theorists are claiming online, and whether Patrick has any legal path to shut the accusations down after divorcing Lindsay and remarrying. Then the jury got the case: nine women and three men, deliberating at Plymouth Superior Court since August 27, more than three and a half hours with no verdict on the first day. Five options sit on those verdict slips — first-degree murder with life without parole, second-degree murder with life with parole, manslaughter carrying up to twenty years, not criminally responsible, or not guilty.
