Caleb Flynn’s mistress Alleigha Botner took the stand in his Miami County murder trial and read the jury the texts — message by numbered message — that prosecutors allege prove he planned to kill his wife Ashley Flynn. For the first time in five days of trial, Flynn didn’t cry. Botner, 24, testified she and Flynn exchanged more than a hundred thousand messages during an affair that began while she was a worship leader at the same church the Flynns attended. She told the jury Flynn talked about wanting Ashley dead with increasing intensity — from “I wish she was gone” to “if I could kill her and not go to jail, I would” to “thinking about ways to kill her.” During the couple’s fifteenth anniversary cruise, Ashley discovered the messages on an iPad and texted Botner asking to meet for coffee. Botner testified she said she was too busy. Seven months later, Ashley was shot twice in the head. On Valentine’s Day weekend 2026, Botner testified she told Flynn she was done and had a date in March. He cried. The next day he walked her through a step-by-step divorce plan for Monday morning. That same evening, Botner went to ChatGPT, searched how to permanently delete their messages, and sent Flynn the screenshots. His last text that night: “Good night, tomorrow’s a big day.” Hours later, Ashley was dead. Botner’s first thought, she testified, was “too much of a coincidence.” She texted Flynn “were you involved?” — then deleted it. She lied to the FBI four days later, denying the affair entirely.
