Alleigha Botner started crying on the witness stand before she could finish reading her own text message — the one where she told Caleb Flynn she wanted to kill his wife. She was 23 years old when the texts started — a worship leader at the same church the Flynns attended. Twelve months and more than 100,000 messages later, according to testimony, she was using his words, his nickname for Ashley, and his language about making her disappear. Flynn is charged with aggravated murder in the death of Ashley Flynn, 37, on February 16, 2026, in their Tipp City, Ohio home. Prosecutors allege he shot her twice in the back of the head while she slept and staged a burglary. His defense says there is no recovered murder weapon and no eyewitness. Over those twelve months, per Botner’s testimony, Flynn texted that he’d kill Ashley in a heartbeat if it wouldn’t send him to hell. He asked Botner to hire someone. He told her he’d never joked about any of it. By July 2025, Botner was texting back in his language — calling Ashley “douche” and writing that she “needs to go.” Flynn allegedly replied he’d smile the whole time. Botner texted: “Praise God.” The texts show five moves repeated for a year: death wishes framed as devotion, a woman trained to solve his problem, emotional crisis deployed every time she pushed back, a 40-day spiritual fast that became the timeline for leaving, and jealous surveillance disguised as sacrifice.
