Dr. Avram Mack, called by the prosecution, testified that Lindsay Clancy told her children to "go to God" while she was killing them, and that she could tell right from wrong when she did it. A week later, she told a hospital chaplain she was glad they were safe. Months after that, she told Dr. Phillip Resnick her own death would have left them in terrible shape without her. Closing arguments are next in her murder trial, and those three statements alone show why this case has never been a simple one. The defense has rested. The record shows Lindsay was in session with her psychiatrist on January 23, 2023, one day before the killings, part of a paper trail running through two nurse practitioners, a therapist, two December calls to a suicide hotline, and a five-day inpatient stay at McLean Hospital that ended nineteen days before her children died. Dr. Resnick, who also examined Andrea Yates, told this jury Lindsay was following a command voice. The Commonwealth's own testing reportedly found no evidence she was faking, and that she downplayed her symptoms rather than played them up. If this jury convicts her anyway, she faces life without parole starting at age thirty-six, paralyzed from the chest down, transferred from a hospital bed into a system the Department of Justice has already accused of isolating suicidal inmates in bare cells for months at a time.
