Three life sentences. A hundred years. The judge called him disgusting. Everyone thought it was over. It is not. Rex Heuermann’s Gilgo Beach sentencing closed one case and cracked open three more. He confessed to a murder nobody charged him for. His ex-wife is named in a civil conspiracy lawsuit. And he owns property in death penalty states where women have disappeared. The plea deal: he waived his appeal after his lawyers fought three years to keep it. He confessed to killing Karen Vergata — her family was in the room, no charge filed. He agreed to FBI interviews the DA calls “academic.” Melissa Barthelemy’s sister told the court he called from Melissa’s phone afterward and described what he had done. The civil case: Asa Ellerup reportedly made over a million dollars from a Peacock documentary. She told cameras she did what she had to do to protect herself. She renovated the basement. She sleeps there. Valerie Mack’s son is suing her for civil conspiracy. The map: four lots in South Carolina. A timeshare in Las Vegas. Missing women near both. The judge said “eight that we know of.” Both states have the death penalty. Defense attorney and former prosecutor Eric Faddis breaks down everything the sentencing revealed and everything it left unanswered.
