Gypsy Rose Blanchard described taking a kitchen knife to Ken Urker’s headboard after finding a card he had written to an ex. The account came from a recorded September 2025 call to a friend in prison, which surfaced after Ken died in Louisiana on October 1, 2026. She said Ken photographed the damage and threatened to seek sole custody of their daughter Aurora. The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office said it had no report of that episode. Ken’s sister Autumn later said the couple had broken up and that he wanted Aurora to live with family in Texas. Gypsy produced September 2 texts describing an amicable plan for joint custody without a contested court fight. The messages and Autumn’s account do not settle what either parent intended later. There is another part of Gypsy's history that matters to how people judge her words. In 2007, neurologist Bernardo Flasterstein questioned the severe illnesses Dee Dee Blanchard claimed her daughter had. He documented the possibility of a caregiver fabricating illness after examining Gypsy and reviewing earlier testing. His concerns did not result in a protective-services report. Ken’s official cause of death had not been announced in the reporting reviewed. Law enforcement had not accused Gypsy of involvement.
