Alison & Noel in a bowl? Yes, really. Alison Hammond is back and Noel Fielding is making his Dish debut, bringing Bake Off energy, plenty of laughs and a few behind-the-scenes secrets from the tent. With series 17 of The Great British Bake Off now back on our screens and Nigella Lawson joining the judging line-up, the pair tell us what it’s really like working on set, from Noel’s favourite tinned lunch to Alison’s methods for keeping spirits high. While there’s no beans on toast on the menu today, Angela’s latest creation is putting her in strong contention for our own spin on Star Baker, as she serves up Ed Smith’s recipe for one-tin butter chicken and chickpea curry. It’s served with poppadums, chutneys and a bottle of Cape Mentelle Marri Chardonnay 2025, selected by the Waitrose wine experts. Then come the really important questions: what makes the perfect fish finger sandwich? (Spoiler alert: it’s a sourdough-free zone.) We also hear about Noel’s breadmaking experience with Paul Hollywood’s and discover Alison’s peculiar golden syrup myth. And if that wasn’t enough, there’s a Butterscotch Angel Delight whisking finale. Will Alison and Noel impress our judges and take home the Waitrose goodie bag?
