The French Revolution happened because people disobeyed God. Democracy without divine authority is utopianism. Illness comes from a failure to submit. That's not fringe internet commentary — that's what was printed in the Wisdom Booklets and taught as curriculum to children raised in the Duggar family's IBLP system. And the man who wrote it answered to no one. This week on Hidden Killers, we looked back at the most compelling conversations from our deep dive into what the Duggar family curriculum actually contained — and what it produced. The law and government teachings inside the Wisdom Booklets rewrote history as a theology of obedience. Authority wasn't something to be questioned — it was a divine structure, and stepping outside it was framed as rebellion against God himself. The Character First program took that framework and pushed it into public schools, packaging obedience-based ideology as character education. The authority structure that held the entire system together was designed to be self-reinforcing — accountability flowed upward to a man who had none of his own. When the hypocrisy at the top finally became undeniable, the structure didn't reform. It just kept going until ATI quietly shut down in 2021. By then, the damage was done. Adults who went through the full IBLP education emerged with math that stopped at fractions. Law degrees that didn't function in practice. ACT scores attached to no usable GPA. Young adults who didn't understand their own biology until their twenties. They did everything the system asked of them — memorized the booklets, followed the authority chain, trusted the curriculum — and discovered that everything they were given was functionally worthless outside the walls. ATI closed. Nobody went back for the people it already failed. Nobody built a bridge between the education they received and the education they needed. The system produced obedience. It did not produce adults equipped to survive without it. And that may have been the point all along.
