“I'm finding this silence of these folks really peculiar and odd and the spinelessness, the cowardice. They are enabling this ongoing misconduct of this mayor in my opinion.”

He maintains that the death of Evelyn Valdes was the result of a catastrophic failure by city emergency infrastructure and police response.

“I think largely it was a catastrophic failure all around from, you know, from the incident itself, from the response that came after the incident.”

She believes that parents should not feel safe or trust the 911 response system in Miami.

“No. No. Because to this day, all that happened, I never got a call from an officer.”

Accepting luxury gifts by police officers from political figures creates an appearance of corruption and compromises their integrity.

“I think you know the sheer fact that you know if they did get these if they got these watches you know on itself it's doesn't look good you know accepting a gift but the sheer fact that luxury watch at this price I think supposedly have been rubbing people within within the department you know the w”

He believes the mayoralty should be approached with a place-first mindset rather than a party-first approach.

“if you're not putting the place first and you're going with a sort of party script you're really not starting the job in the right in the right way”

He holds that his primary responsibility as mayor is to champion his region above party politics.

“I always say my only responsibility is to Champion the West Midlands that's what people expect of their mayor”
