The influx of large, untraceable sums of money from corporations and billionaires negatively impacts voter information, discourages qualified people from running, and causes government paralysis.

“In the end, you end up with a situation where I do not believe the voter is more informed when they go to the ballot box, but but less informed. It all has to do with this crazy amount of money”

The current campaign finance system is corrupt and controlled by billionaires, undermining democracy.

“when you have billionaires and their super PACs, Apac and other special interests spending tens and tens of millions of dollars trying to defeat Abdul, that's not democracy. That's a corrupt campaign finance system controlled by billionaires.”

She believes that the influence of large, unregulated financial contributions in elections, alongside efforts to suppress voter access, fundamentally threatens American democracy.

“But the attempt to to stuff tons of money into who gets to run and who gets the advertising to get attention at the same time that you try and make sure that lots and lots of people can't vote whether or not they vote Republican or independent or Democratic or something else. It basically destroys A”

Dark money groups negatively influence elections by injecting massive, unaccountable funds into political races, which in turn discourages candidates from entering the field.

“And that's the whole point. We don't know who's donating. They have unlimited funds and no caps on how much they can put in. And so, these attack ads start before the the race even starts.”

Alex Bores believes the campaign finance system must be reformed by overturning Citizens United and requiring disclosure for all super PAC spending.

“In Congress I will fight to overturn Citizens United. I will fight for disclosure on every super PAC. I will be the strongest fighter of getting rid of money and politics.”

“I think you got to get money out of politics in America. And if you don't if you don't go to public funding of campaigns and if you don't get money out of politics and if you go Miriam Adelson, who's a US citizen, a dual citizen, but a US citizen, if she's allowed to raise $32 million of her own mon”

Government should move to a publicly funded campaign model where all candidates receive the same amount of funding and private/corporate donations are eliminated.

“Number one, we need publicly funded campaigns where each candidate gets the same amount of money. That's it. Do not let uh corporations donate. Don't take money from people. Get all the all of private, public, all of it. All of the corporate money out of it.”

She believes the current system of funding campaigns is problematic and supports moving to publicly funded campaigns to shorten the process.

“I don't I don't I don't think that all day long. I think ours is extraordinarily like long and the amount of money that has to be raised and in Europe the the actual times that people can can campaign is much shorter and it's publicly funded and the public funding would just be a gamecher.”
