Lindsay Clancy is on trial in Plymouth Superior Court, and this week the prosecution built its entire case around one word: rational. Patrick Clancy took the stand as the state's lead witness and described what he called one of her best days — a snowman built with the kids, normal texts, a woman who seemed present and fine. The prosecution says that's the whole case: if she could function like that, she could plan what came after he left the house. Then jurors heard the seven-minute 911 call. The pajamas came in as evidence. So did the exercise bands. And so did the fourteen-second phone call Lindsay made to Patrick after the children were already gone — a call where he had no idea anything was wrong. Cross-examination pulled a different picture into the room. Lindsay checked herself into McLean Hospital on New Year's Eve. She went to the ER. She told providers about intrusive thoughts involving her own children — and somewhere in that chain, Women and Infants Hospital flagged overmedication and misdiagnosis and got no answer back. Here's what the prosecution didn't plan for: Patrick Clancy filed a civil lawsuit against the healthcare providers. So did Lindsay, separately. The father of three dead children looked at the same evidence this jury is looking at and decided the doctors bear responsibility.
