He opposes reforming the Electoral College because he believes it serves as a necessary check against mob rule and ensures decentralization.

“I don't want mob rule in this country on either side. And I think Franklin understood that. Even Hamilton and Jefferson, who used to go off on each other 250 years ago, both agreed to that. I think that that's very fair. And that there is not enough data.”

She advocates for Electoral College reform because she believes the current system undermines public faith in democracy and causes friction.

“I think it is a system that needs to be reformed because we keep having situations where one candidate, usually the Democrat, will win the popular vote and not win the electoral college vote. and it deprivives millions of Americans in large states like California and Texas and New York”

He believes the Electoral College is an important system to ensure presidential candidates campaign across the country rather than just in major population centers.

“The basic idea was that because of huge population centers, you would have people only campaigning there, and you would be ignoring huge huge swaths, most likely the entire middle of the country. That would be a problem.”

The Electoral College process is an antiquated system that Trump and his advisors attempted to exploit in order to subvert the transition of power.

“You know, a lot of people think you just kind of go and you vote and the popular vote determines, you know, who wins and who loses. And there's really this Electoral College process that in in my opinion is arcane and anti you know, antiquated”

Krystal Ball believes the electoral college system is inherently flawed because it makes votes in swing states significantly more impactful than votes in other states.

“and that is the idiocy of the American political system because why should it be that a voter in Bucks County Pennsylvania matters more than a voter in New York City right that's stupid that is nonsensical and yet it's just what we're you know it's what we're used to with the electoral college syste”

She suggests that the electoral college may no longer be a desirable institution to maintain.

“and i may or may not if you want me to explain that again i've explained it a lot of times maybe it'd be more effective actually to explain in a future talk why we might not want to have it any longer”
