Eight months before Ashley Flynn was killed, the jury heard Caleb Flynn tell Alleigha Botner, the woman he was having an affair with, that he had “never joked about it” after a conversation prosecutors said was about getting rid of Ashley. Months later, Detective Mike Morgan sat across from Caleb and tested the story he gave police about the night Ashley died. This combined breakdown puts those two pieces of the trial next to each other. Botner read messages from June, July, and August 2025 in which Caleb discussed Ashley’s death, including “please take her out” and a message about staying up until 4 a.m. thinking of ways to kill her and not go to jail. The defense argued those messages were ugly talk inside an affair, not a murder plan. Then comes the interrogation. Morgan confronted Caleb with a garage door that appeared forced even though it was not latched, damage visible from the inside, and a bedroom scene that investigators said did not fit a struggle. Morgan used Caleb’s own account of standing at the edge of the bed to describe where the shooter would have been. Caleb agreed with the placement. Tony Brueski is joined by retired FBI behavioral expert Robin Dreeke and 25-year FBI veteran Jennifer Coffindaffer to examine what the messages show, what the interrogation technique was designed to test, and where interpretation ends and evidence begins. On September 29, 2026, a jury convicted Caleb Flynn on all nine charged counts, including aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence. His defense has indicated an appeal is expected. Listen Anywhere You Get Podcasts: https://pod.link/1655749292 Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video?
